Good evening Parents, Carers and Guardians
It is with regret that we need to inform you that due to a positive COVID-19 result, we will be closing the preschool until Friday 13th November 2020.
A staff member has today tested positive for COVID-19 after displaying minor symptoms on Monday. In expectation of contact from the NHS Track and Trace system, we have followed government advice and will be isolating our staff for 14 days since their last contact with the effected staff member (during the half term renovation). Any members of staff who develop symptoms during this time will also be tested, therefore should we receive another positive result, we may extend our closure until approximately Wednesday 18th November (14 days from today). This will be communicated.
Please be assured that the colleague who tested positive has been in voluntary isolation whilst awaiting their result, therefore your child has not been in direct contact with them.
In line with the directives issued by Glastonbury School, we now issue the following advice:
"Any child who has either a high temperature, loss or change of smell and taste or a new continuous cough will be sent home and will be unable to return to the setting until they have received a negative result to the COVID-19 test".
It is now mandatory that your child is tested if they have any COVID-19 symptoms before they can return to the school. We will require proof of the negative result.
We know that this will have an impact on some if not all of you, 2020 has been hard economically for everyone and we are very sorry to add further strain to you and your families. However, we must do whatever we can to reduce the spread of the coronavirus. Although we are acting before the Track and Trace system, we feel that this is the best way to keep everyone safe and avoid further exposure, should one of our staff fall ill.
When we reopen, we will now conduct our temperature checks before you leave the premises. We would like to say thank you for wearing your masks for your drop off and collections, we would ask that this continues when we reopen. We have taken these steps to reduce the risk of transmission.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are hoping to keep in touch with the children with some recorded videos available on our website so we will let you know when this content has been added.
Thank you for your continued support and we cannot wait to welcome you all back.
